Jessica Masters -

Jessica Masters has pursued a career as an artist for the past 15 years since graduating with her degree in Fine Art from the University of Guelph. Her work has evolved from printmaking and drawing to more prominently chalk pastel and oil painting. Painting mostly from the Ontario landscape, Jessica’s work has often been described as quiet or meditative. The images remind us of scenes captured from the view of a passing car, making one aware of the passage of time. The peacefulness of these landscapes provides the viewer with the time to connect to the visual moments that create memory, and help us to reflect on where we are in life. Large skies, distancing fields, and moving roads are rendered with a mix of subtle and bright colour palettes, and a true sense of light creating a balanced composition. These elements of the work define the landscape yet maintain a sense of abstraction. Jessica’s work has been exhibited widely in both group and solo exhibitions, and is held in many private collections throughout Canada and the U.S. Jessica currently exhibits in several galleries in Ontario and a recent move to the Eastern Townships of Quebec will provide a beautiful and vibrant landscape for her new work.
