Collection: Ann Shier
Ann Shier is an accomplished Toronto-based artist specializing in encaustic painting, an art form that involves stirring pigments into molten wax and then applying it to the surface of the support. Her studies in fine arts, combined with her work as a potter and formal training as a graphic artist, guide her encaustic work to communicate her curiosity of life. Her observations are then explored through this medium's tactile and visceral nature. Over the past five years, Ann has left her artistic imprint on a wide range of spaces, including private collections in Canada, the United States and the UK.
Ann pursued fine art studies at the Ontario College of Art and Design (OCAD) in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. She also studied English Literature at Ryerson University in Toronto and communication design at Durham College in Oshawa, Ontario, Canada.
