Sue A Miller

Sue has been a painter and arts educator for over twenty years. Her use of texture and colour relationships expresses a connection to the natural world that she invents through contemplative exercise. Her work is informed by a collective imprint of landscape, but conveys the essence and feeling that evolves from an intuitive sense rather than from explicit image or symbol.

Miller’s paintings are a personal voyage into an internal perception of landscape that creates space and comfortable solitude. Inspired by shorelines around Georgian Bay and the coastlines of Newfoundland, her journey is motivated by the relationship of environment and metaphor and by the desire to create a connection between what happens on the canvas and the observer.

Sue studied Fine Art at Georgian College in Barrie, Ontario graduating in 1986. Since then she has continuously worked from her studio. Her teaching career has included work with First Nations in Labrador, Autism Ontario and facilitating art retreats in Newfoundland and part time summer faculty at Sir Sanford Fleming College, Haliburton Campus. Her work is represented in galleries in Ontario and Newfoundland and is held in private collections across North America, Europe and Japan
